meeting #6 - details/topic

Meeting #6 will be on Tuesday, 2/13 at 7:30pm at the Euro Cafe at 61 Main St.

Topic: living sustainably/dealing with the post-oil world/global warming/etc.

Why? check this out:

Bill McKibben started this. Groups around the country will join him on April 14 to participate in the largest global-warming rally in history. It's a call to action. Maybe this is something some GIS members would want to spearhead here in Burlington (though I bet there are already groups making plans for this). Plus, the IPCC just released its report on climate change...and the news ain't good.

i'm sorry to say that i am going to miss this next meeting. i do have a pretty good excuse...my sister and i are bringing dinner to my mom who just had surgery. don't worry, she is doing well!!

anyway, i checked out that link. there are a few "activities" listed for burlington. it seems like they mostly consist of rallies on church street. as much as i would love to spend a saturday carry signs up and down church street with the crazy green party man, i feel like the good idea society can come up with some much more productive ways to combat global warming. so, go to it team... brainstorm and have fun. i am excited to participate in whatever you come up with. it's a little late for me to be brainstorming tonight, but perhaps i'll have more to contribute tomorrow. enjoy the meeting!!
